What is an NCIP?
Nine Chronicles Improvement Proposals (NCIPs) describe standards for Nine Chronicles.
An NCIP is a design document providing information to the Nine Chronicles community, or describing a new feature for Nine Chronicles software. We intend NCIPs to be the primary mechanisms for proposing new features, for collecting community input on an issue, and for documenting the design decisions that have gone into Nine Chronicles.
How are NCIPs brought to life?
It all starts from a suggestion
Players can suggest on discord any tweaks that the game or ecosystem could use.
Just join the Discord or the forum and use the suggestions channels to exchange ideas with other players and when you think you have it sorted out place your idea in the voting.
Some of the suggestions might lead to more complicated concepts so the players can go further with them and initiate an NCIP.
How does this work:
- A player has an idea, so he initiates a talk about it. The best way would be to create a rough draft in a document so that it’s easy for the rest of the community to understand it. You can use any format at this point or take one of the already accepted NCIPs as a starting point for the structure.
- The lead author presents the idea to the suggestion channel @ and gets feedback and new ideas from the rest of the players.
- If the community approves that the NCIP is beneficial to the game, the NCIP will be looked over by someone from Planetarium (or community leads) and it will be added to the official NCIP page as a draft.
- The NCIP will get implemented by the Planetarium team or, even better, by any other community member that has the necessary programming knowledge.
If an NCIP has interesting points, Planetarium might work on it and change what’s needed to fit the game instead of using the whole NCIP.
You can read all the details and see already discussed NCIPs on the GitHub page.
Players that work on NCIPs might get tips as rewards for their time, but this should be done from passion, not as a sure source of NCG (Nine Chronicles Gold).
Grants for Programmers
If a community member has the skills, desire, and will to make direct improvements to the game, he can apply for a grant. Use the developers channel to learn more and get in touch with a community leader or a dev to set the details.
You can start from checking the NCIPs page and get inspired or even start working on making one of those reality.
And you can also check the game documentation.
